Oshi Houses

Oshies were persons who provided accommodations for Mount Fuji worshipers (Fujiko) and climbers and taught the manners of climbing and prayed for their safe journey. Oshi houses have been located in the Oshi-town area in the upper Yoshida district in the city of Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi Prefecture. Fujiko was popular in the Edo period.
